Mapping Brain Metabolism

Center Director Anke Henning, Ph.D., and faculty members Jae Mo Park, Ph.D., Jimin Ren, Ph.D., and Changho Choi, Ph.D., developed new techniques for imaging energy and cell membrane metabolism and mapping neurotransmitter distribution in the brain. These methods improve both brain tumor diagnostics and the understanding and treatment of psychiatric and neurodegenerative disorders. Hyperpolarized MRI, ultra-high field MRI, MR spectroscopy, and non-proton MRI are used.
